PLoS Biology 2.0

PLoS Biology - www.plosbiology.org

Well, I guess it is official now so I should post about it here. As for this afternoon, I am now the new Academic Editor in Chief of PLoS Biology. To read more about this new role of mine go to the source. I will probably cross post the editorial here at some later point.

Also see other blogs/notes about this

For more on what I think about Open Access publishing see some of my other blogs on the issue.

Author: Jonathan Eisen

I am an evolutionary biologist and a Professor at U. C. Davis. (see my lab site here). My research focuses on the origin of novelty (how new processes and functions originate). To study this I focus on sequencing and analyzing genomes of organisms, especially microbes and using phylogenomic analysis

  1. Congratulations Jonathan. If anyone can bring open access to the masses it’s you. Open access is an idea whose time has definitely come. I know how annoyed and frustrated I get when I don’t have access to the online version of a journal article. Keep up the good work.

  2. OK, so I’m clearly not your most regular reader and missed the big news, but a late congratulation anyway! It’s fantastic news. Maybe now I can get you out here to Cowboy Country to spread the OA word???
